A Russian body artist and tattoo fanatic named only as Aleksandr, has come under fire for dosing his hairless Sphynx cat up with anesthetics and giving itfour tattoos.
Thecat, known as Demon, now has a series of “gangster” designs on its back and sides, featuring a prison tower, playing cards, and a cigarette all things that are typically worn by criminals in Russia.
He said that he had to give Demon an anesthetic so that he could stand the pain of the ink needle and admitted that he might not have been doing the right thing.
Of course I feel pity for doing it to him. Its not like he wanted to do it himself. He has a different skin, so tattoos are applied differently, Aleksandr said. I hope it is not too bad for him, it is not his first tattoo. Usually, he feels fine and recovers from the anesthesia pretty fast.
Animal activist Yelizaveta Skorynina hit out at the tattoo artist for putting Demon through the ordeal.
She said that Sphynx have very sensitive skin and any little injuries cause them pain and discomfort. Not to mention, that anesthesia is bad for Sphynx and the survival rate is 50%, which makes this whole case a question of abuse.
Another local tattooist, however, Aleksandr Purtov, defended the actions, saying that what he had done was no worse than a farmer branding his livestock.
“It is an old practice, this is why I am neutral to it,” he added.
People who have half a brain are absolutely outraged by this whole case and think it’s most certainly animal abuse.
